Vitamin C Lowers Heart Attack And Stroke Risks

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have published the findings of a study that shows the benefits of vitamin C. The results were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and reports some amazing things vitamin C can do within the human body.

Or better said, it reports some amazing things that the human body can do with vitamin C. These things include lowering blood pressure and improving vascular (blood vessel) function which lowers heart attack and stroke risk.

The researchers found that taking 500 milligrams of vitamin C daily, about five times the “recommended daily requirement” reduced blood pressure by 3.84 millimeters. For those who already had high blood pressure, their pressure reduced by 5 millimeters.

Vitamin C is also known to help restore elasticity and healing micro-cracks in blood vessels and artery walls. It’s also known to help boost collagen production which reduces the number of wrinkles on the human body in addition to preventing new ones.

Foods that contain high levels of vitamin C include citrus fruits, strawberries, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts, melons, broccoli, cauliflower, kiwi and tomatoes. You can also take a high quality vitamin C supplement but seek a food based, natural form if you want to truly get the benefits and your money’s worth.
